The Beethoven Method

The Beethoven Method is a fun name which popped up in my head once. I wrote about it in this instagram post once.

Why a fun name? Yes, we have the Hal Leonard Method, the Alfred Method, the Suzuki Method, Faber, etc. etc...

Why not a method where we learn Beethoven's work (as well as his contemporaries and other classically-oriented composers) and call it The Beethoven Method?

Personally, it's also because teaching has brought me to understand, play and teach Beethoven's "intermediate" work more confidently, too.

I used to be afraid of Beethoven, btw. ;)

I'll start this list and my references are among others the Suzuki books, Mastering the Piano, The Pianissimo Series (Piano Picollo, Fur Elise & Liebestraum), Jane Magrath's Guide to Standard Teaching and Performance Literature, & ABRSM.

My goal is to find the nicest sonatas, rondos, or variations (typical classical-period forms), not only by Beethoven & his contemporaries, but also composers from other eras writing sonatinas, rondos, variations, etc.
